Visiting Officers

David Ashbolt

Born at Limehouse Maternity Hospital in 1946, David can lay claim to being a true Cockney! Most people who have heard him speak will vouch for this.

David completed his education in Dagenham and Hackney, following which he moved to West London and started his working career; initially employed as a trainee Perspex Fabricator for Chase Signs and Engineering in Acton in 1963, David progressed through the organisation, becoming Group Managing Director in 1985, a position he held until his retirement after 43 years service. David now helps his wife Vanda with running their Boarding Cattery in Woking, Surrey.

Tom Quinn

Tom moved from his native Scotland with his wife Eunice and two children in 1983, to work in London. A Past Master from the Scottish Constitution, he has taken to English Masonry in a big way, particularly the Mark and RAM Degrees.

Now retired after 40 years in banking he allegedly has lots of spare time to devote to his five grandchildren, the Grand Master’s Lodge of Instruction (where he is Assistant Preceptor) and this wonderful London Province, which he is able to support and entertain in an admin capacity and from a musical perspective, as he and Eunice are often to be heard singing for their suppers at the Annual Burns Weekend in Bournemouth and the End of Year Parties.

Jerry Gangadeen

V.W.Bro. Jerry Gangadeen says he was taken aback when the Provincial Grand Master told him that it was his intention to make him an Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the Province of London.

A keen golfer, he and the PGM were both playing in a tournament at the time and V.W.Bro. Jeremiah Daniel, to give him his full forenames, now breaking into a broad smile, says he realised instantly what a great honour it is to be so chosen.

Henry Hobson

Most Brethren in the Province will know Henry, as for many years he was the Chairman of the Communications Committee and for a long time one of the Provincial photographers attending meetings and delegations, taking pictures at the end of proceedings for inclusion in the website and also the Year Book.

It was a role that Henry took on enthusiastically, and not surprisingly really considering his involvement with Snappy Snaps – the high street photographic printing specialists.

Cliff Sturt

Born in South London, Cliff spent his teenage years in Somerset before returning to London to read Physics at Imperial College.

He graduated with a 2:1 and an Associateship of the Royal College of Science.

Moving into the world of Intellectual Property, Cliff soon qualified as a Chartered Patent Agent (European Patent Attorney) and subsequently established his own Practice in central London.

Tim MacAndrews

Tim was born in 1956 in West London where he was brought up and educated. In 1979 he qualified as a Chartered Accountant but almost immediately left the profession to set up with his business partner their own company – Snappy Snaps, a photographic retail franchise. The chain grew to over 150 shops and was sold to Timpsons in 2013.

His interests include being an active member of Confrerie du Sabre d'Or, where he is an active sabreur, running a golf society, skiing and travelling in all its many guises. To this end he has owned two Routemaster buses (Daisy and Daphne), acquired a PPL licence (and flown a Cessna to Marrakech), has owned a motor cruiser, driven a F1 car, and travelled extensively on some of the more remote railway systems in the world including the northern countries of South America, the trans-Siberian Express and some years ago, with his then 13 years old son, by train all the way from London to Singapore. He also has two daughters.

Brian Parkins

Born in East London in 1938.

“Educated” at St Ignatius College by Jesuits and then to King’s College London. Dental training King’s College Hospital and the Eastman Dental Institute subsequently joined the staff. American Dental Society of Europe and Fulbright Scholar at Northwestern University, Chicago obtained Master’s Degree. Returned to UK and set up in Private Practice in Park Lane.

Now retired from Private practice and NHS Consultancy at University College Hospital, London. Thought that I was going to have more time to myself - but Masonry got in the way!
