Hello,

Another Fantastic Burns Night in Bournemouth Part 1

What a wonderful evening we all enjoyed. The food was exemplary, the Entertainment (Tom & Eunice and the Old Push and Pull) outstanding and the Company even better! This was an evening of great good humour and a wonderful way to catch up with friends – both old and new.
The Selkirk Grace was delivered by Eunice Quinn who’s husband Tom then went on to massacre the poor wee Haggis which had ventured into his view, in true Burns style. The address and toast to the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns was given by W Bro Harry Smith.
Our PGM gave a short address and had the pleasure of announcing that the following changes to the Provincial Executive would be made at the Annual Meeting in July: Tom Quinn as Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Cliff Sturt and Tim MacAndrews appointed as Assistant Provincial Grand Masters. This news was greeted with acclaim. The PGM then expressed his thanks to Vincent and Emma for all their hard work in organising the evening and a special mention to the PGM’s lovely wife, Vanda, who was in great form despite having just had an operation on her foot.
We were treated to the Tom and Eunice Show when, once again, Tom gave an impeccable performance and. as is now expected, re-wrote the lyrics to a couple of the songs which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
The toast to the Lassies was delivered by W Bro Tim MacAndrews in a light-hearted and jovial manner, which was very smartly responded by the Lassie’s representative Harriet (or Henrietta!) Hobson which had us mere men cowering in the corner!
Our Toastmaster and MC, VW Bro Tony Gilbert was in great form and managed to control the evening with his usual diplomacy and good humour.

If you are reading this and were unable to attend this year, we strongly suggest you make a point of booking up for next year. It really is an Evening NOT to be missed.
