The beginning of November saw a very well supported full team visit to Kelvin Lodge to present them with a special axe in recognition of their generosity to the Hope for Tomorrow Appeal. The axe, again skilfully made by W. Bro Charlie Newman is reportedly the 48th to be presented to date and the PGM R W.Bro David Ashbolt was delighted to be presented with a further donation to the appeal. Amidst some very good natured banter APGM Tim McAndrew was delighted to present a Grand Lodge certificate to Bro Sam Russell who prior to the official visit by our PGM to the Mark Lodge had been Elevated into the Kelvin Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners by Mark Nixon, W. Commander and his Team of Officers which included Sam’s Dad, Bro. Ian Russell as JW. The ceremony was performed to a very excellent standard. Tom Quinn, DepPGM, who had Advanced Sam at the Lodge’s last Mark meeting was pleased to present the Working Tools. The Deacons had attended Grand Master’s LofI the night before the Elevation ceremony and had benefitted greatly from that extra rehearsal, as their floor work was generally regarded as one of the highlights of the ceremony.
