Happy 30th birthday as the Province of London celebrates in great style
It was an occasion not to be missed when over 250 Mark Masons of all ranks and distinctions got together at Freemasons’ Hall for what can only be described as an evening of joyous celebration, great food and outstanding company throughout. We were shepherded and (sort of) kept under control by the eagle eye of our Master of Ceremonies, (a redundant Butlins redcoat?), Wes Hollands, who made the evening run on time and with as little stress and worry as possible. Well done Wesley. A very strong contingent from the Executive, present and past, added their support to a very special evening. Thank you all.
We were treated to short addresses from two Past Provincial Grand Masters, M.W. Bro Raymond John Smith, Pro Grand Master and R.W. Bro David Ashbolt, who is now Deputy President of the MBF which gained a response from our very own Provincial Grand Master, R.W. Bro Tom Quinn, delivered in his own inimitable style. These three held the audience in the palm of their hands with some really wonderful reminiscences and stories from the past 30 years.
We were delighted to welcome the Grand Secretary, R.W. Bro Ryan Williams, and the Deputy Grand Master, R.W. Bro John Prizeman who were on terrific form, Then we were introduced to the star of our evening in the person of V.W. Bro Roger de Courcey and, of course, his close friend and associate for many years, Nookie Bear, who was also awarded a promotion to P.Prov.G.W. by our PGM, to rapturous applause.
But in all, everyone who attended were the stars of the show and their enjoyment is easy to see in the photographs taken by our team: Hiko, Chris S, Campbell, Gary and Chris J. Thanks to everyone. See you all soon.
Happy Birthday London and here’s to the next 30 years.
