Winter is Coming – or so it says in the book – but the warm, jovial and congenial atmosphere at the party proved that idea to be very wrong. Our Provincial Grand Master, R.W. David Ashbolt, and Vanda definitely entered into the spirit of the occasion even bringing along three well-behaved (at this stage) dragons. Under the watchful eye of our MC,  W. Bro Chris James, W. Bro Attilio Grandani of Loyalty Mark Lodge 1989 opened with a ‘brief’ overview of the Game of Thrones before subjecting us to a booby-trapped quiz – the answers proving to be elusive to many though some very creative with alternative solutions were offered up. While the invitation suggested smart casual dress, a few extras from the TV series did manage to arrive in full GOT costume. The buffet dinner was swiftly followed by a enormous raffle which alone raised nearly a thousand pounds and some winners took the option of trying a sabrage champagne opening with a little instruction from the master of the art, W. Bro Tim MacAndrews APGM – again a great success, as I was only hit once by flying glass!
