Hello,

Part 1 Mark Provincial Grand Officers Mess 14th May 2014

An interesting and entertaining evening was had by all those who attended the London Mark Provincial Grand Officers Mess held in the Union Jack Club on Wednesday 14th May 2014.

The evening started with a presentation by Simon Atkins the MD of the Club, he set out the history and raison d’etre of the Club and explained what facilities it offered to current and ex servicemen, his talk was backed up by photographs from the past and also what it looks like today. The talk was much appreciated by the members and visitors present and the Mess President Eddie Goodwin presented Simon with a cheque for the Club Charity,

This was followed by an excellent three course meal with copious quantities of wine accompanied by a wonderful Saxaphone player.

The Mess Secretary Tim MacAndrews spoke about the London Bridges walk to be held on Sunday 27th July, the very first London Bridges T shirt signed by the great and the good or not so good present was auctioned by David James and made the grand sum of £130.00 bought by David Greenland who can be seen the the Part 2 photos proudly posing with it beside Nookie Bear and Roger De Courcey.

After the meal we were entertained by Roger De Courcey who gave a slide show on his 50 years in show business, photos of this part can be seen in Part 2. Roger then introduced Nookie bear who had come to a Mark social in Craft regalia, no one was safe from his comments especially David Ashfelt sorry Ashbolt our PGM, this was closely followed by a suburb imitation of Jagdish by Nookie bear whose Indian accent matched Jagdish’s perfectly, everyone was in stitches and everyone on the receiving end took the stick in great humour as can be seen from the photos in Part 2.

The Mess President Eddie Goodwin presented Roger with a cheque for his charity The Grand Order of Water Rats to much applause from all present.
